In honoring Mental Health Month, join us for June’s “Darkness into Light” on June 22 from 7-10 p.m. This is a monthly open house, open mic event where our intention is to erase the stigma attached to mental illness, addictions, anxiety or PTSD. This can only happen when we do it together. We are excited that the ever-talented emcee Violet O'Hara is hosting us yet again and in the future as she shares her own personal stories. Poetry, music, monologue or just sharing your experiences – all forms of expression are welcome.
We celebrate knowing that this isn’t how the story ends. We celebrate the brilliance, creativity and artistic ability that can come out through the dark. Whether you work through this using your own paths to healing, medication, diet or meditation, mental health affects everyone and is handled differently, person to person. Please note that we are rotating the date every month for now to make sure we reach anyone who can’t make one particular day.
This is a FREE event but love offerings are always appreciated and accepted. You can also support this event by supporting the artists who display their work at the studio – purchase your own one-of-a-kind art piece. It takes a lot of heart to run these events and a bit of cash to make sure folks have snacks and plenty of coffee and tea!
TRIGGER WARNING: Because of the encouraged openness of this event, you should be prepared to hear stories that you may find uncomfortable. Please respect any courageous speakers who choose to share. There will be instances where we will clear the energy naturally if you are hyper-sensitive and/or empathic. If you are interested in participating or helping, please contact Jenice at email@example.com or call 817-307-9384.
Please note: In keeping with the mission of the space as a safe place for recovery, no booze or drugs allowed.
LOCATION INFO: We have a sign now so you should be able to find us just fine. But if you end up over at Hope Speaks, head to the west side of the building. ;)
