We had some big sales at the end of Riki's one-day show a few weeks ago so we decided to have a closing reception for all of you who may have missed it the first time around. All prices on these items are negotiable.
Artist Riki Johnson has been featured in galleries and dance clubs across the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. She has spent the last few years growing into her role as a nurturer and creative woman of Christ.
Although much of her work has been sold, she currently has several pieces she is offering at deeply discounted prices at a one-day event at Art Is Life Studio.
Come experience Riki's work and invest in a one-of-a-kind item NOT meant to match your couch. Riki's art is colorful and explorative and will be a special addition to your home.
About Riki Johnson Atkins:
Born in Ft Worth, and raised in Arlington, TX, Riki Johnson knew from an early age that she would become an artist and so did her parents. They pushed her to reach for the stars and supported her talent from the very beginning. After graduating from Lamar High School, she attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where she received in 2001, a BFA in Film and Animation (studying traditional animation and figure drawing). Riki went on to intern at MTV in NYC as an animation apprentice under the leadership of Dan Haskett (character designer for such films as "The Little Mermaid" and "The Fox and the Hound"). Also during that time, several artists/animators inspired her and provided valuable experience in the animation studio industry.
Riki's experience was similar to many artists thriving in New York. She bar-tended and freelanced as an artist to make ends meet. During her downtime she found dancing to be an outlet of expression that would soon influence her art. In 2004, Riki moved back to Texas with her daughter Denim and a new outlook on art. Her paintings reflect the dance influence and the experience of motherhood.
