Deb and Sar: A Mother and Daughter Exhibit

We are excited to have the art of Debbie and Sarah Richman at our studio for this delightful pop art inspired mother/daughter show. Reception is July 8 from 7-10 p.m.

Debbie Richman:

Currently residing in Dallas, Texas with her husband and two daughters, Debbie Richman was taught all forms of art at the Arts Magnet High School for the Performing Arts and Visual Arts at Booker T. Washington with an emphasis on canvas painting. She continued her art education at The University of Texas in Austin and received a Bachelor of Art degree in Art. Upon graduation, Debbie worked in the graphic design field for over six years until she and her husband decided to start a family. Her daughter was the perfect inspiration to reconnect Debbie with her painting, but this time on walls instead of canvas.

When her daughter’s room became a local showpiece, she began a career painting murals for children’s rooms. Recently, Debbie chose to trade in the walls and return to her canvases combining the whimsy of her murals with the elements of her graphic design. When asked what style she considers her paintings to be, Debbie simply answers “POP”. Her work has caught the eye of many newspaper editors and been featured on more than two dozen newspapers covers across the country and in Canada. She has also exhibited at over a dozen venues throughout the Dallas metroplex and in New York, New Orleans, New Jersey and Toronto.

Sarah Richman:

Throughout her childhood, Sarah Richman was encouraged by her family to pursue music, theatre, and visual arts. As a recent graduate of the theatre cluster at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Sarah pushed herself by taking four theatre classes (including musical theatre,) three visual arts classes, and private voice lessons. Her senior year, she had seven pieces featured in the Painting and Design Show at Booker T. She will be attending Columbia College Chicago in the fall, with intentions of an Interdisciplinary Arts major.

Light refreshments will be served at the reception. Art Is Life Studio is an alcohol-free enviroment located on 1200 E. Collins Blvd. in Richardson, TX. Look for us between Glenville and Plano Roads.
