SOUL DRAMA: Demeter & Persephone - Trading Places

Join Tzivia Stein Barrett for this Mother's Day celebration with creative arts and active story telling. In our two hours together, we will create a collage signifying a story about a gift that our mother has left us. We then embody the gift through improvisational story telling. She may be departed in the flesh, but her gifts and spirit lives on through our gifts.

The term Motherless Daughters are when we reach a certain age or maybe before and we have lost our precious mothers.

The myth of Demeter and Persephone depicts a mother losing her daughter to the underworld for 6 months out of the year: were spring and summer are when the two are united, and the fall through winter, are when they are apart. Demeter, the mother goes into a holding pattern.. Closed up, dried and waiting for the time her daughter Persephone returns.

As daughters, we may have lost our mothers to the underworld and at times feel stuck... waiting for a flowing presence to help us be creative again. Or, perhaps time living with our mother was not that comfortable and her passing leaves us empty as well.

This Mother's Day, our Soul Drama is about finding the treasure, the gift that our mother has given us; the seeds of strength, creation, values or ways of being.

In our two hours together, we will create a collage signifying a story about a gift that our mother has left us. We then embody the gift through improvisational story telling. She may be departed in the flesh, but her gifts and spirit lives on through our gifts.
